Let’s Get Term Limits on the Ballot!
I recently submitted a docket request that the Town Council place on its November 2026 upcoming legislative docket a proposal to establish term limits for elected members of the Town Council.
This proposal will be discussed at the March 16 Town Council Meeting and a vote will take place to determine if the following term limits question will be on the November ballot.
Suggested Ballot Question Language
Shall the Charter of the Town of Middletown be amended to limit members of the Town Council to two (2) consecutive four-year terms, with eligibility to serve again after a break in service of one full term?
☐ Yes
☐ No
I believe that term limits would:
Encourage broader civic participation
Promote fresh perspectives
Reduce concentration of political power
Strengthen public trust
I encourage you to attend this meeting to share your opinion as the council votes whether or not to include term limits as an item on the November ballot! Join us!
